Valerian LLC site rebuild
Valerian LLC, a Denver-based landscape architecture firm, needed a complete redesign that would set them apart in a competitive market. Their existing site was functional but visually flat — it wasn’t reflecting the creativity and craftsmanship of their work. The new site needed to be bold, fast, responsive, and easy for the client to maintain independently.
Working closely with YellowDog’s design team through multiple rounds of client review, we landed on a striking dark palette with bold angled colour blocks and topographic detailing — a visual language that felt both architectural and distinctly Coloradan. One of the more technically demanding aspects was keeping design elements properly contained within angled containers across all screen sizes, requiring careful CSS work to maintain layout integrity on tablet and mobile.
A portfolio of 40+ past projects was built using dynamic custom fields that display when populated and hide automatically when empty — keeping the CMS clean and maintenance-friendly. Staff profiles were implemented as a custom post type, giving the client full control over team content going forward.
The redesign made an immediate impression — Valerian was so pleased with the result that they referred several colleagues to YellowDog for new projects. The site continues to serve as a strong representation of their work and brand.
